Today is Winter Solstice, arriving officially at 9:30 p.m.. This year, it is being accompanied by a King Tide. King Tides are higher than usual winter tides. These occur when the gravitational pulls of the
sun and the moon reinforce another. A King Tide is expected today along the Washington coastline and in the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The Washington State Dept. of Ecology is inviting residents to take photos of King Tides for research purposes. Click here for more information. Typically, beachcombers love to go out and look for treasures once the tide recedes. It is certainly possible that debris from the Japanese Tsunami will wash ashore. Recently some was discovered at Neah Bay. Click here for what you need to know.Image: Google. Original Source unknown.

Happy Holidays to you and your family :) :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)
