MLK Day: Blessed are the Peacemakers Event

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. ~Matthew 5:9

Annual Blessed are the Peacemakers Event
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, January 16th 
St. Augustine’s  Episcopal Church in Freeland, South end of Whidbey Island
Noon-12:45 Free Lunch
1:00 Service of Rememberance
Free-will offering will be taken for the Helping Hand of South Whidbey.
The guest speaker will be the Rev. Carla Robinson, vicar of All Saints Episcopal located in Seattle’s Rainier Valley district. She is also a member of the Diocesan African American Committee. 
There will be singing of Civil Rights anthems and Afro-American spirituals will be led by Karl Olsen of Trinity Lutheran. Hannah and Haley McConneaugh will sing two duets, “No More Auction Block for Me” and “This Little Light of Mine.”
The service will also  readings from the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, including the famous " I Have a Dream" speech. The event will conclude with the singing of   We Shall Overcome.”  Childcare will be provided. All are welcomed.
